Russian military Ka-52 helicopter accidentally fired S-8 rockets near a crowd.
At least one bystander narrowly escaped death when a Russian military helicopter accidentally fired rockets into a parking lot during a training exercise, a video released on Tuesday shows.
Russian media reported Tuesday that three people were wounded in the incident, which reports described as an accidental launch of an air-to-surface missile in the direction of spectators at one of the sites of Russia’s Zapad-2017 military exercises.
Zapad-2017 is Russia’s biggest military exercise in years. Some 13,000 soldiers, plus hundreds of tanks and other vehicles, are taking part in the joint Russian-Belarussian exercise.
The online 66.ru portal said the accident happened on either Sunday or Monday at the Luzhsky range, 60 miles east of the Estonian border, during the Zapad-2017 drills, which have alarmed some of Russia’s close neighbours.
